RLRDP to host students
THE Rural Libraries Resource Development Project (RLRDP) will early next year host Swedish students who are interested in studying South Africa ahead of the 2010 Soccer World Cup to be held on African soil for the first time in history.
This came during the RLRDP Secretary General, Mr Obadiah Moyo's visit to Sweden between 9 and 25 October 2009.
"Some Farnebo students involved with the South Africa 2010 study visit have indicated an interest to visit Zimbabwe early next year," Mr Moyo said. " RLRDP will host the students and expose them to its operations."
During his brief stay in Sweden, Mr Moyo, managed to visit African groups of Sweden and the University of Gavle.
"A visit was made to the Africa groups of Sweden, where a lot of interest was shown on RLRDP and Zimbabwe in general," he said.
Mr Moyo said the Africa Groups committee also facilitated a visit to the University of Gavle library.
"The library staff indicated an interest to co-operate with RLRDP. Their major interest is in the donkey drawn mobile libraries project," the Secretary General said.
Mr Moyo also made a visit to the European Union Development Days
This was held between 22 and 24 October 2009 in Stockholm, where various Swedish and European organizations put up displays depicting their activities.
"I had an opportunity to visit those organizations that have an interest in Southern Africa and rural development," he said. "A lot of contacts were made and follow -ups on some of the contacts will be made."
